Has the complexity of the 2026-2028 Immigration Levels Plan left you worried about your family’s future in Canada?
With IRCC stabilizing permanent resident targets at 380,000 annually, the competition for family class spots in Ontario is higher than ever. Whether you are looking to sponsor a spouse in Toronto, navigate a common-law partnership application in Niagara Region, or appeal a denied sponsorship, our Ontario-based legal team provides the expertise needed to navigate the 2026 regulations.
Our Ontario Family Sponsorship Services
We specialize in high-intent sponsorship categories that require meticulous documentation.
Spousal Sponsorship (Inland & Outland)
Bringing a husband, wife, or partner to Canada is a journey, not just a form. We help you choose the right path:
-
- Inland Sponsorship: For couples already living together in Ontario. Benefit from the 2026 Spousal Open Work Permit while your PR application is processed.
-
- Outland Sponsorship: Typically faster for those living apart, with the right to appeal if the application is refused.
Common-Law & Conjugal Partner Sponsorship
Proving a “genuine relationship” is the #1 reason for IRCC delays. We conduct an Evidence Audit of your joint bank accounts, shared leases, and life history to meet the strict 12-month cohabitation requirements for common-law status.
Parent & Grandparent (PGP) Alternatives
With limited lottery spots for the Parent and Grandparent Program in 2026, we help Ontario families explore the Super Visa as a faster, multi-entry alternative to keep families together.
Why Accuracy Matters: 2026 Processing Times in Ontario
Currently, spousal sponsorship processing times for Ontario residents are averaging 12–15 months. However, a single missing “2D Barcode” form or insufficient relationship evidence can push your wait time past the two-year mark.
We help you avoid the most common 2026 refusal red flags:
-
- Inconsistent Relationship Timelines: Ensuring your “Relationship Statement” matches your chat logs and travel history.
-
- Financial Inadmissibility: Confirming the sponsor meets Ontario’s income requirements (LICO) where applicable.
-
- Document Gaps: Tracking down certified translations and police certificates from countries with slow 2026 turnaround times.

FAQ
How long does spousal sponsorship take in Ontario for 2026?
As of March 2026, IRCC service standards for spousal sponsorship are approximately 10–12 months for Outland applications and 12–15 months for Inland applications. However, complex cases involving missing documentation or background check delays can extend this timeline to 24 months.
What is the income requirement for sponsoring a spouse in Ontario?
Unlike the Parent and Grandparent Program, there is no specific “Minimum Necessary Income” (LICO) to sponsor a spouse or partner in Ontario, provided they do not have dependent children who also have children. However, the sponsor must prove they are not receiving social assistance (other than for a disability) and can provide for the basic needs of the applicant.
Can my spouse work in Ontario while the sponsorship is processing?
Yes. If you apply under the “Inland” (Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada) class, your spouse is eligible to apply for a Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP). In 2026, these are typically issued within 3–5 months of receiving the Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR).
Does a common-law partner have the same rights as a spouse?
For Canadian immigration purposes, yes. As long as you can provide evidence of 12 months of continuous cohabitation in a marriage-like relationship, a common-law partner is treated the same as a legal spouse for sponsorship.
